Our laboratory is focused on deepening scientific knowledge mainly related to the study of the management and conservation of volcanic soils and the dynamic processes of carbon and nitrogen.
We study the mechanisms involved in carbon and nitrogen sequestration in pristine forests and agricultural systems and their associated biogeochemical cycles in different climates and vegetation.
We study the geomicrobiology and the interactions between microorganisms and soil minerals developed in extreme environments.
We investigated the chronosequences in their different stages in the formation of the soil in Antarctic environments.
